Why Study with Us

What distinguishes our approach.

Faculty with field experience

Our lecturers have worked in Malaysian financial services, not only written about it. They are familiar with EPF, unit trusts, and the practical realities of retirement planning in this country.

Small cohorts

Every programme runs with a maximum of ten participants. Questions are taken seriously. Discussions connect to the actual situations people bring to the room.

Taught in person, Petaling Jaya

All sessions take place at the academy's premises in Surian, Petaling Jaya. In-person teaching allows for the kind of conversation that written materials alone cannot replicate.

Honest about trade-offs

We do not simplify what is complicated. The programmes describe the conditions under which different financial choices are likely to work well, and when they may not.

Written materials included

Each full-term and evening programme supplies reading materials for study between sessions. The Saturday seminar centres on a single chosen text, supplied to participants before the first meeting.

Structured, time-bounded

Each programme has a clear beginning and end. You know what you are committing to before you enrol. There are no open-ended subscriptions or rolling course structures.

Questions

Answers to common questions before enrolment.

What level of prior knowledge is expected?
The Personal Finance Studies programme and the Investing for the Second Career course are suited to adults without a formal background in finance. The Saturday Reading Group is better suited to those who already have some grounding and would value a more analytical discussion. We are happy to speak with you before you enrol to confirm the right fit.
Where are sessions held?
All sessions are held at the academy's premises at 71, Jalan Persiaran Surian, 47810 Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Parking is available nearby. There are currently no online-only sessions offered; we believe in-person discussion is central to the learning.
How many people are in each cohort?
The Personal Finance Studies full-term programme and the Saturday Reading Group are limited to ten participants. The Investing for the Second Career course also runs in small groups. These limits are firm; we do not expand cohorts to accommodate additional enrolments.
What are the course fees and how are they paid?
Personal Finance Studies: MYR 2,280. Investing for the Second Career: MYR 1,180. Saturday Reading Group: MYR 460. All fees include written materials. Payment details are confirmed upon enrolment. We accept bank transfer.
When does the next cohort begin?
Cohort dates are announced approximately six weeks before the start of each programme. We recommend enquiring early, as places fill before the formal announcement in some cases. Contact us to be notified when the next cohort opens.
Is this financial advice?
No. Bestari Learning provides financial education, not regulated financial advice. The programmes equip participants to understand and evaluate their own financial situation more clearly, but individual investment decisions remain the participant's responsibility. Faculty may illustrate concepts with examples, but these are not recommendations.
What happens if I miss a session?
Session notes are provided after each meeting, and the written materials help participants follow the curriculum independently. Missing occasional sessions is manageable; missing a significant portion of a programme may affect the benefit derived from it. There is no make-up session offered.
